Safety and Health Coordinator (SiGeKo)

When is a SiGeKo required? There is no direct regulation specifying a fixed number of employees or a specific number of working hours. However, the following rules of thumb apply:

If at least 20 workers are present simultaneously on the construction site, the need for detailed safety coordination increases.
If the expected construction duration exceeds 30 working days and there are more than 20 employees simultaneously on site, prior notification to the responsible authority is required (§ 2 BaustellV). This often also indicates the need for a SiGeKo.
